Meet the Staff

Dr. Cathy Dahl

Dr. Dahl first graduated from the University of Kansas with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.  After working in the hospital for a few years, she decided it was time to take the next step in her education and transition into the role of physician.  She graduated from the Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences (KCUMB) in 2000.  She completed her residency at the University of Kansas, and as a board certified OB/GYN spent several years managing her obstetrical and gynecological populations.

She quickly developed great interest in higher level prolapse, incontinence, and pelvic pain.  At this time, she decided to no longer deliver babies, and focus on this higher level gynecology, and was honored with the eligibility to be the first female in this region to sit for certification in the subspecialty field of Urogynecology in 2013.  Upon completion, she became the first board certified Urogynecologist in the state.

Dr. Dahl has continued to offer minimally invasive surgery as well as non-surgical gynecology options to our community, and remains active in all of her children's various activities.  She serves as treasurer for her children's swimming league, the Lawrence Aquahawks.  She loves the outdoors, running, biking, fly fishing, and walking her two white Labrador Retrievers, Lucy and Lola.

Manya Schmidt

Manya Schmidt grew up in Topeka and works as a certified nurse-midwife (CNM) and advanced practice registered nurse.

Schmidt has worked with Dr. Dahl since 2004 and is a professor in Washburn’s doctor of nursing practice and family nurse practitioner programs. She has devoted her career to caring for women and families during and after pregnancy. She was the first certified nurse-midwife to attend hospital births in Topeka in 1994, paving the way for nurse-midwifery care to become established in the community. Schmidt is a preceptor for many CNM and nurse practitioner students throughout the Midwest.

Schmidt has worked to deliver midwifery care in a variety of underserved areas throughout Topeka and northeast Kansas, providing direct patient care in many different local and outreach clinics.
